Giving a hand up

The Crews Café training program is an initiative of the Rev. Bill Crews Foundation and a unique social enterprise in the heart of Ashfield. It offers on-the-job hospitality training to those who need a fresh start.

The Cafe’s training program is called Transition 2 Work and is run in partnership with TAFE NSW. It helps people gain employment in the hospitality sector. Indeed, successful graduates gain a Certificate II in Hospitality.

Crews Café training the chefs of tomorrow

The Crews Café training program teaches all the skills required to work in the hospitality industry. Trainees learn about food hygiene and handling, using kitchen equipment and menu planning as well as customer service.

In fact it all happens under the guidance of qualified professionals including baristas, chefs, restaurant managers and recruitment agencies.

The program makes our trainees job-ready, as well as opening doors to employment. In fact, two-thirds of our graduates have gained hospitality jobs.

The Crews Café is making the future better for our trainees and also giving back to the community.
